DAY 13: Petra - Wadi Rum

After breakfast, get ready to explore Petra, Jordan’s most famous attraction as well as one of the 7 New Wonders of the World! Start this visit to the Red Rose City with a horse ride through the canyon (Petra Seeq) to reach the Treasury Al Khazneh. Petra was built by the Arab Nabateans more than 2000 years ago making this ancient site one of the oldest cities in the world! In the afternoon stop for lunch before heading to Wadi Rum. Here, explore the area’s spectacular mountains, Lawrence of Arabia’s cave and Lawrence’s dunes. Then, transfer to the Bedouin camp area and get ready for a night of camping under the stars in the Wadi Rum desert!

Experiences

Tour the famous Red Rose City of Petra: Embark on a guided tour of Petra with free time. Back in 300 BC, Petra was the capital of the prosperous Nabatean Kingdom. Swiss explorer Jean Louis Burckhardt famously wrote about it in his diary. “It's one of the most elegant remains of antiquity existing.” He penned this when he discovered the site in 1812. It's easy to see why - Petra is simply breathtaking. It is also known as the 'Red Rose City' due to the colour of the stone from which it was carved. However, the site is best known for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system.

Sleep in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum: Sleep under the stars and experience the magic of the Wadi Rum desert with a night in a private, Bedouin-style camp. The nomadic tribes and clans of the Middle Eastern deserts are known as Bedouins. It’s in this very desert where Lawrence of Arabia fought alongside the Bedouins against the Ottoman Empire during WWI.

Next, drive to Mount Nebo, an elevated ridge of the Abarim in Jordan, approximately 710 metres above sea level. It is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. After exploring Mount Nebo, head to the famous Dead Sea for lunch, a swim (or float!) and time to relax by these iconic, salty waters. At the end of the day, return to Amman for dinner. Overnight at your hotel.

Experiences

Explore Mount Nebo: According to the Old Testament, Mount Nebo is where Moses lived out his final days and saw the promised land. For this reason, Mount Nebo is a religious site of great importance. It also acts as a fantastic viewing platform from which to gain sweeping views of the Dead Sea and even Jerusalem on a clear day!

Step into the Dead Sea: The Dead Sea is actually not a sea at all, but a lake, around 30% of which is made up with salt. It is also the lowest place on earth, at 417 feet below sea level. The water's properties are said to cure various skin conditions. It may also relieve respiratory ailments. The lake's mud is used in spa treatments at the hotels along its shore. A trip of a lifetime
Loved traveling on boats to see ancient cities. Exploring the desert on an Atv and on camels. Going over the Valley of Ki gs in a hot air balloons. Snorkeling in the Red Sea and floating in the Dead Sea. 4 wheeling to a desert camp party with food and dance in Jordan. The staff were all helpful and friendly.

This is a very fast paced tour with early mornings and long bus rides to get to the next destination. It includes bucket list sites i.e. the pyramids, the Great Sphinx, temples, a Nile cruise, Valley of the Kings, Petra, Wadi Rum and more. The guides in both Egypt and Jordan were a wealth of knowledge regarding the history and significance of places visited and the customs and culture of the people. They were amazing, friendly, fun and readily accommodated the group. We were met upon our arrival in Egypt and assisted with obtaining Visas and getting through customs, then driven to the hotel. There was a meet and greet in the evening to meet our guide and our fellow travel mates. We were a group of 34. Our guide Nabil gave us an overview of the tour and other pertinent information i.e. drinking water, safety, currencies used etc. Jamal was our guide in Jordan for the group of 16. I did not give this 5 stars because there were some hotel and itinerary changes.

Egypt and Jordan tour was amazing!
Everything in Egypt was magical! Our tour guide Nabil was so knowledgeable on every site we visited we couldn't have asked for a better tour leader. He made our large group feel like a family. We had such a great experience. The people in Egypt were so kind and welcoming. The sites we visited were so impressive. Nabil gave us plenty of time to admire and explore each site while he gave an in-depth explanation on the history of what we were seeing. We highly recommend this trip. We then went to Jordan through this same tour. Our tour leader Jamal showed us what a wonderful country Jordan is! Petra was just as awesome as we imagined, Wadi Rum was so fun! Camping out in the desert for a night, we were treated to some of the most amazing scenery I will never forget. The beautiful cliffs at sunset, then at sunrise is a must see. Floating in the Dead Sea is the strangest experience! You can't sink even if you wanted to. We loved it! We will definitely return to both of these

Egypt and Jordan Review
Egypt and Jordan review The Egypt portion of the tour was amazing! Nabil was our guide—his knowledge, empathy, and ability to lead our group made for an amazing tour of Egypt. The Misk Hotel was in the middle of nowhere. We were dumped off there with nothing to do and no place to walk. The Cruise on the Nile was nice but should not be advertised as a "5-star" ship. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

A really great experience.
Great itinerary. I saw what I wanted to see. A bit hectic for a few days, waking up very early to catch a flight to Aswan then wake up early again to drive to Abu Simbel. But has a morning rest on the 3rd day and then 2 days rest in Hurghada. It was too cold to do much water activities. Hurghada accomodation is great with free drinks. Really enjoyed the tour with great group and tour guides.
