With the most artistic masterpieces per square kilometer, Venice could be forgiven for resting on its laurels. But instead, this is a city where the well of creative inspiration continues to overflow – in defiance of both the 19th century romantics who predicted its decay, and the acqua alta (high tide). Known for its peculiarities – and apparently all the richer for it – a trip to Venice is time to savour. As a traveller one always dreams of exploring this city – with its rich history and enriching atmosphere.
