Fluent in English & Italian

After 15 years building communities in the classroom, I found my calling guiding travellers through Italy. I'm an American-Italian raised in the U.S., shaped by summers and school breaks spent in Europe. And Italy has always been home.

I'm a total food nerd who reads Italian history books for fun. Restaurant owners know me by name across Italy, which means you get the best tables, seasonal specials locals order, and stories you won't find in guidebooks.

My favourite part of being a tour leader? Witnessing the transformation when guests move from "pretty cool" to genuine awe. Like when I explain how Perugia's underground city came to be. That shift from sightseeing to true understanding keeps me coming back.

When to Travel

December is Italy's secret season: festive Christmas markets, smaller crowds, and mild temperatures around 13°C. You can relax in San Marco Square without the masses, and Venice's canals are calm with fewer boats. Spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) also offer comfortable weather.

Local Flavours

"Italian food" doesn't exist as one cuisine. As the landscape changes, so does the food. Carbonara belongs to Lazio, Bolognese to Bologna, tortellini to Emilia-Romagna. Learning how foods are made and valued in Italian heritage is incredible. No wonder it’s now UNESCO-recognised!

Insider Advice

Pack excellent walking shoes; Italy reveals itself on foot (5–8 km daily through cobblestone streets). Learn Italian hand gestures; they often work better than phrasebooks. And locals are naturally curious and friendly: compliment their food, their city, and they'll open right up with stories.

Must-Do Experiences

Watch sunlight strike the world's longest meridian line at noon inside Bologna's Basilica di San Petronio (It projects onto the floor like a daily miracle). Take a gondola ride on Venice's Grand Canal to feel like a celebrity. Visit Orvieto's secret underground streets that most visitors never see.
