Travel along the shores of Lake Titicaca to Bolivia’s Copacabana this morning. Lake Titicaca straddles the border of Bolivia and Peru and is one of the world’s highest navigable lakes! Arrive in Copacabana and hop on a ferry to visit Isla del Sol (Sun Island). According to legend, Lake Titicaca gave birth to the sun and the moon. Hear all about the mysterious history of the area on the visit to the island. Cruise back to the mainland where you can spend the evening at your leisure.

Sun Island Visit. Catch a short ferry ride across Lake Titicaca to Isla del Sol and spend the day here. The island is home to indigenous villages, beautiful beaches and great rocky trails. DAY 4: Copacabana - Puno

It’s an early start today! Travel further along the edge of Lake Titicaca and cross the border to Peru. Arrive at the port town of Puno - known as the capital of folklore in Peru! From Puno, travel by traditional reed boat across Lake Titicaca to the Uros islands - man-made floating reed islands that are home to the indigenous Uru people. Living on these floating islands, the Uru people maintain a traditional lifestyle, using the lake as a source for food. See how the locals create handicrafts, watch folk dances and try some local food. Sail back to Puno in the late afternoon and enjoy an evening of relaxation at the hotel.

DAY 5: Puno - Sacred Valley

Leaving Puno and Lake Titicaca, travel to Peru’s Sacred Valley. Get ready for a day of driving - the views alone will keep you occupied for hours! En route, stop at Pucara - home to ancient Inca ruins. Drive through La Raya, a high pass sitting at 4300m above sea level. Along the way, enjoy the panoramic views, keep an eye out for llamas and shop for souvenirs at roadside markets. Stop at Raqchi, an ancient Inca fortress. Last stop is the breathtaking Church of Andahuaylillas - known as the “Sistine Chapel of Latin America”. Arrive at the hotel, check in and enjoy an included group dinner. Welcome to the heart of the Sacred Valley!

Pucara. Visit Pucara and its small but exquisite architectural sight of Inca significance. Pucará, as it’s also known, is known for it pottery, the Pucara Stone Museum with its selection of original and replicated ceramics, sculptures and other objects from pre-Inca culture.
Raqchi. Raqch'i is home to one one of the biggest archaeological sites in the area. The ruins of Raqchi are mostly known as the Temple of Wiracocha that was built in honour of Wiracocha, a deity believed to be the giver of all life. Outside of the temple, there’s also the living quarters, ceremonial baths and a natural lake fed by spring water through stone fountains.
The Church of Andahuaylillas. Taking our eyes off the Inca ruins for a moment, visit the Andean village of Andahuaylillas and its baroque church. Named the “Sistine Chapel of Latin America”, or “The Sistine Chapel of the Andes”, this church was built according to Spanish traditions and dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle. Expect painted ceilings, a gold-leaf altar and a shimmering, colourful display of murals.

Discover the mysteries of the Sacred Valley today! Enjoy breakfast before a guided tour of the Sacred Valley’s winding streets and local villages with the mountains providing an impressive backdrop! See ancient Incan sites and learn about the local landscapes, culture and history along the way. Stop at the town of Ollantaytambo deep within the Sacred Valley. Explore the town, which is home to an incredible fortress, that was once a royal estate for the Incan Emperor. Get a glimpse into everyday life at a local marketplace and shop for traditional Andean handicrafts. Cruise along the Sacred Valley’s roads and keep an eye out for llamas, alpacas, goats and sheep grazing along the roadside. After a full day, spend some time relaxing at the hotel this evening.

Guided Tour of the Sacred Valley. Follow a local guide and explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas. There are loads to see in the valley outside of Machu Picchu (the crown jewel!). We take you out into the valley to do just that, stopping at the most significant Inca sites up the mountain. Also stop at a local marketplace for lunch and do some souvenir shopping while mingling with the locals. This is the ideal spot to get a behind-the-scenes look at the art of Peruvian weaving and perhaps buy your own woven blanket or scarf. The locals you meet here might be descendants of the Incas, the sophisticated Andean tribe of South America. The language they speak is called Quechua and is mainly spoken here in the Andes mountains of Peru.
Guided tour of Ollantaytambo Archaeological complex. Ollantaytambo is one of the most important towns in the Sacred Valley and the last major town before Machu Picchu. Built on the site of ancient ruins, it’s impressive terraces were the base for Incan ceremonies and the royal estate of the Incan Emperor. It was also the stronghold of the Incan resistance against the Spanish. Explore with a local guide and learn more about the history of the architectural sites and incredible vistas around Ollantaytambo.

Look forward to seeing a South American highlight today! You have the opportunity to join a full-day guided tour to visit the soul-stirring Machu Picchu. This celebrated heritage site is nestled high in the Peruvian Andes mountains. After being forgotten for many years, American archaeologist Hiram Bingham rediscovered it in 1911. The exact origin of Machu Picchu remains shrouded in mystery - was it a sacred site or an astronomical observatory? It was known to once have been a royal estate for Inca King Pachacutec. Spend the day exploring the ruins. See tombs, stone canals and plazas. Getting to Machu Picchu is quite a trek! Travel there by bus, train and on foot. Next, take to the skies to see the famous Nazca Lines! Travel to Pisco airport and catch a flight that travels over the Nazca Desert.
